At Wadax, our aim is to design top performing products that integrate in a seamless way in any décor or home environment.

To achieve technical and musical performance we developed our proprietary technologies that make the core of our Know-How. Part of this success required very special industrial design skills, proper selection of materials and manufacturing techniques among others. All these are necessary but not sufficient to comply with our master aims: We found necessary to make our products easy to live with and use and to integrate seamlessly into any home décor.

This had an impact on the requirements in the external look, the man-to-machine interface, remote control, construction and build, etc.

After a very long list of required skills we found in Ochoa y Diaz-Llanos Studio a perfect match: an industrial design studio that understood and fully adapted to the technical skills needed and share our permanent seek for perfection, has respected sculptures and Art Works in their portfolio and excels in their ability to seamlessly integrate into the home living environment.

In 2009 the “Speak 1” active speaker was finalist in the yearly contest of AEPD (Spanish Industrial Design Association) among many other types of products.

Pre1 Process

Nowadays electronics parts get smaller, more densely integrated, switching with higher clock rates, while working voltages and currents are getting smaller. Music content also live under these conditions, and this means that they are more susceptible to external and internal contamination from different sources.
This is electrically addressed by different techniques, but there is also a source of mechanical contamination. The microphonic effect has long being addressed in tubes, but it is also very noticeable on other solid state devices, especially important in parts like clock generating circuitry, where a quartz crystal sets precision and it is a mechanical device...

Mechanical impedance is one of the terms to work with and at the end everything is -mechanically- interconnected, be it physically close or separated.

The requirements are not so obvious;?mechanical isolation from other’s influences is one, but also make the equipment be as solid and rigid as possible, to conduct stored vibrational energy away. And there are other important criteria.
Terms as micro-resonance may sound strange, but we can and we do measure it and see its effects.

The therapy for this is not single-recipe but a set of adequately chosen design and manufacturing practices. For instance, every screw in our electronics boards are tightened with our calibrated custom tools at an exact torque, depending on the screw, its placement and material.

The chassis is the result of a complex design job by Ochoa y Diaz-Llanos Estudio together with Wadax engineers. It is a clam shell design milled from blocks of a especially formulated aluminum alloy in order to improve its electromagnetic shielding performance and resonance control, while improving on rigidity.

On top of this, a special formulated 5-step process finish based on neoprene microspheres provide for micro-resonance control. The path to vibration evacuation is carefully designed with different parts and materials. The Mechalock structure is the concept that holds all these practices. When the chassis is closed, the electronics inside live free from environmental contamination sources.
